Countryside location peaceful and quiet, making space for inspiration

Dillwyn Show, Felt items on a demonstration table

Demonstration in the Art and Craft and Cake tent

Kinnersley, Herefordshire some would say it is a hidden country, central to the Welsh border. To those who discover it is can be a great countryside base for felting and making textile designs with friends.

There are many special galleries and studios to escape to whilst the felt is drying or design inspiration needs space – usually near a favourite tea shop or two of Pearl’s! Yasmin Strube in Pembridge is one and happens to be right next door to The Steppes, an award winning tearoom. Herefordshire also boasts some pretty cool small Shows, Food Festivals at Shobden and Hay are my favourites.  Kington one day show is smaller than Burwarton – just over the border in Shropshire but equally interesting.

Fungi with carpet of moss and euphorbia

Favourite spot in a shady area with a rescued head and seasonal explosion of fungi, this seems random but natural groupings like this seem right for eco-dyeing designs.

If you enjoy gardening then we will delight in helping you to fix up an itinerary to ensure you don’t miss the hidden treasures of Herefordshire gardens and nurseries.  With the help of Hortihub (local garden experts, growers and designers) we’ll even pop you over the borders into Powys and Shropshire.  New plans are always afoot in the Upper Newton Gardens too and pottering and chatting about gardening is one of our passions.
