Accommodation in the Welsh Marches

Upper Newton Farmhouse: a Jacobean black and white houseDuckshedfelt is based at Upper Newton Farm in Kinnersley, Herefordshire.  It stands just a few miles from the Welsh border.

My husband, Jon, and I run a mixed farm of beef cattle, cider orchards and arable crops of various cereals. We also provide award-winning Bed and Breakfast (Winner of AA Landlady of the Year) and self-catering accommodation.

The farmhouse dates back to the 1600s and is built in the typical black and white style of the area. It's a wonderful place to be inspired both for felt-making and the other passion, gardening.

Stay with us

Pond and Golden Valley

Quiet corner of the garden overlooking the pond and jetty

If you attend courses we'd love you stay with us, you could then enjoy the unspoilt countryside and villages in Herefordshire.  Our farmhouse lies on the Black and White Villages trail. There are lots of little artisanal food producers, artists and craft studios along the trail - close to great teashops such as the Steppes in Pembridge

If you would like to find out more about the accommodation please visit www.herefordshireholidays.co.uk.

Learn about Felting at a unique B&B in blissful surroundings

img_0247The boundaries of felt-making are constantly being stretched as a result of working and linking with felting friends in the  International Felt-makers Association.  I also benefit from being an Associate at Herefordshire College of the Arts using the workshop space to develop my screen-printing and silk-painting and sharing ideas and delights with staff and students alike.

I create functional/useful – cushions, scarves, hats, booties and cubes with layers of texture and hand-stitching to enhance and personalise the work out of mostly British fleece and natural fibres. Each item is totally unique. Current work is involving local fleece in upholstery.

Bespoke Courses

If you would like to explore a new skill and engage with some felt making whilst on your break – please let us know in advance and we will do our best to help.

Feltmaking in the Marches Borderlands, two miles from Welsh border. Unique, individually made scarves and functional felt made by an artisan felt maker.

Stunning new collections using eco-dyed fabric and fleece, hand carded and used to make one off creations for unique gifts. Less "sheep miles" and sheep fleece purchased from people I know. (Just like our "food miles" for the B&B.)
